I think it's fabulous that a lot of America agreed with me that his performance on Tuesday night was really amazing. Can you believe there were less than a million votes separating Kris and Adam?? Next week's finale is going to be a much closer shave than a lot of people were predicting.
I love how surprised he looks every week when Ryan announces that he's still in the competition. I'm right there with him! For how much I like Kris, I'm never very confident in his ability to get votes and move on.
Who knows, maybe next week he'll throw another surprise at us and win the whole thing!
I really enjoyed American Idol last night. It seemed to me like the show had a lot less chatting and a lot more singing!
Every year I look forward to hearing what songs the judges pick for the contestants. After months of hearing "I wouldn't have picked that song, but..." it's refreshing to know they have to like the song. Except that they didn't! I should have figured that the judges would criticize each others choices. Is it just me or are the judges fighting amongst themselves a lot this year? It's kind of distracting away from the guys who are competing!
Anyway, I thought they all did really well. I know that Adam is favored to win, but he just isn't my favorite. I can recognize his talent, but his screeching rocker style just doesn't sit well with me.
Kris is much more up my alley!
I like Danny well enough, but to be perfectly honest, he kind of bores me sometimes.
I loved Kris' rendition of Heartless. Did that come out of left field or what? He really pulled it off, though.
As much as I spout my opinion here, I shouldn't really talk because I never vote. Years and years of watching American Idol and I've never cast so much as 1 vote. That's right -- no calls, no texts. Oh well.
I'm rooting for Kris! We'll see what happens tonight...
I can't believe Kris is still on the show -- I'm so excited!
When Ryan said that he was the first "safe" contestant you could see the shock on his face. I was right there with him. As much as I like Kris, I thought that after last night he'd be out.
I'm so glad that he survived!
I know that Kris didn't do great at "Rock Night" but that's because rock isn't his genre. You shouldn't have to be good at everything to be the American Idol. Kris is a great singer and with the right song he's up there with all of the other contestants.
It was so sad to see Allison go (I would have voted for Danny), but at this point they're all good and nobody really deserves to get the boot. It's all part of the show, I guess.
I know that I've been a little down on the contestants so far this year, but I can admit when I'm wrong.
Last night they all did amazing!
It helps that I love music from the Rat Pack era. I think this particular genre helped the contestants slow down a little and really think about how they were performing. So many of these songs require good intonation and deliberate phrasing -- you can't just rush through them in a cloud of notes.
The judges didn't seem as impressed, but I really liked Kris.
It isn't easy to go first and I thought he did a great job with How You Look Tonight.
I also have to give props to Danny.
He usually leaves me feeling a little cool -- he has a good voice, but never seemed to have much star quality. Until last night! He was really working it and sang great, to boot!
My least favorite (and the judges most favorite) has to be Matt. I really thought he should have left 2 weeks ago when the judges saved him. I miss Anoop and think this would have been his week. What better genre for Anoop than the crooners classics?!
Who will get the boot -- I guess we'll see tonight, but I'm hoping for Matt and afraid for Kris.
I also have to mention that, apparently, it's bad for me to let Idol be the last thing I watch before going to bed.
Last night I had a dream that Randy Jackson and I were jamming out in some dressing room. I was trying on jeans (why??) and he was giving me feedback by saying things like, "those are just alright for me" and "you really rocked it with that pair."
In between try-ons he and I were singing together and dancing around.
I didn't get a chance to post about American Idol yet this week and wanted to throw in my thoughts!
In all honesty, I have to admit the Adam Lambert hasn't always been my favorite.
Anyone else remember this?
After that torture performance, I wanted him booted. You shouldn't do that to Johnny.
Since then, though, he's really come around and done some amazing songs! Tuesday night was no exception. I loved, loved his version of Mad World.
I'm going to go ahead and predict Adam as one of the finalists.
I wasn't too sad to see Scott leave last night. Actually, I'm a little surprised that he lasted as long as he did. He seems like a super nice guy, but he just isn't a good enough vocalist for Idol. I definitely think that he could do well as a piano/singer, but not just as a singer.
Turn up your volume and enjoy Adam! Well, maybe just for the second song.
It's been a few weeks since I last gave my 2 cents on American Idol and I decided that I couldn't hold it in any longer.
First, I would like to say that overall I am verydisappointed this year.
I've been watching American Idol for several years now and have noticed a trend. The show definitely has ON years and they have OFF years.
Don't get me wrong, there are talented singers on the show this year. It's just lacking that -- I don't know -- how would Uncle Simon say it, "X-factor" that makes stars pop.
To quote Randy, "It was just alright for me." "Dawg."
Anyway, there are a few people who jump out at me as potential winners.
I love Allison!
She's got a lot of confidence (without being cocky) and can really belt it out!
Plus, she's only 16, which I find kind of hard to believe and amazing.
I'm also rooting for Kris
He did a great job last night and, I hope, will sneak along for awhile longer.
Who do I think will be voted off tonight...hmm.
I'm going to have to go with Scott. His song was not so great. In fact, I like Scott, but I don't really think his type of music (soft rock/elevator style) is right for this show. He's a good singer, but not a great singer.
American Idol demands great singers.
If not Scott, then Michael. Again, good but not great.
We'll see. Alexis was a complete shock to me last week, so I'm not beyond being surprised.
Mostly, though, I just miss Jason and Brooke.
Oh yeah, and David.
Musical, wonderful David.
*sigh*
Listen and remember. I think this was his best performance last year.
I'm so glad that American Idol is back on! I've been watching for the past few weeks, patiently waiting to get through the auditions (which I like in small doses, but can't take for weeks at a time) until we started hearing from the real singers.
All of Tatiana's drama aside (I don't even want to go there)...I think we're getting down to some great talent.
Or I should say, I thought that we were getting down to some great talent.
Until I saw last night's show.
And had to fast forward on my DVR through some of the more painful performances.
What's going on this season??
The show was painfully kind of boring and the singing (with 1 or 2 exceptions) was TERRIBLE.
In my humble opinion.
I mean, who's helping these kids pick their songs? It sounds like they're getting suggestions from a Cracker Jack box, instead of from the music professionals who claim to run this show.
All frustrations aside, there were some good points!
Here are my predictions for who gets into the Top 12 tonight:
Megan Joy Corkrey
I loved her! She was so different and confident. I'm excited to see what else she brings to the show.
Adam Lambert
I wasn't necessarily impressed with what he did last night, but I know (from Hollywood week) that he has potential. He's also ok to look at, which the young girls (read: voters) will love.
One problem I have with him is his identity crisis. He's somewhere between Pete Wentz (rocker) and Nick Jonas (teeny-bopper). I'm not exactly sure what falls between these 2 extremes...and I'm not sure that Adam does either. That could become a problem.
Allison Iraheta
I also loved her! She's got a unique sound and isn't afraid to just be herself. I'm concerned she might go the way of Amanda Overmeyer (from Season 7). We'll see.
These are my predictions -- watch with me tonight and see who makes it!
