february happenings: week four

We finished up February with more snow!  Well, it was a lot of snow for North Carolina at least.

It's good that snow isn't pink or we'd have lost Hadley for sure.  ha!

Don't you scooter in the snow?

A few days later it was a lot warmer and we put on some spring clothes at raise our spirits.  Love this spunky girl!

To end our month Asher had a dentist appointment and totally rocked it!  He sat in the big chair like a champ and let everyone do the cleaning and check-up.  He's getting to be such a big, independent boy.

No cavities - woot!

february happenings: week three

I've been trying to get a picture of the kids together every Sunday.  Sometimes they go for it and sometimes it takes an M&M bribe.  Either way I like to see them together.  When did Asher turn into a teenager??

I finished my last project before the move!  I packed up my machine so I wouldn't be tempted to do "just one more thing".  ha!  This cute set makes me so anxious for spring!

Drew surprised me with the prettiest ring for Valentine's Day.  I wasn't expecting anything and was tickled that he picked out something special.  It needed to be sized so my little helper came with me to the jewelry store on Monday to get it set up.  Thanks iPhone for saving us thousands of dollars in toddler-jewelry store damages!

We had some nasty weather here this week.  Lots of ice, freezing cold temps and a little snow.  The boys took a snow day nap which is exactly what they should have done.  Good job.

Happy birthday Drew!  We celebrated his special day a little early since he had to travel for work, but no one seemed to mind.  The kids helped me make his chocolate cake with peanut butter icing and couldn't wait to dig in!  Asher asked so nicely if he could help Daddy blow his candles out.  "He can do half and I can do half, Mommy.  It will be fair sharing"  haha - never mind that it's Daddy's birthday.  Now is the time to be fair.

selfie photobomb by yours truly - sorry.

Hadley has loved this tiger costume that used to be Asher's ever since we discovered it in an old clothes bin last fall.  When I saw this tiger Cabbage Patch baby I couldn't resist.  I mean, 2 tiger babies?  Come on.  This is pure gold.

Snow day in North Carolina!  We had exactly 2 hours of school this week because of the weather.  Sigh.  But the roads were icy for one of those days, so I get it?  Either way the kids thought this "snow pile" was awesome, which makes me kind of sad for them.  ha!

"Mommy!  Take a picture of my legs!"  Fancy footwork, party of one.

Happy Friday!

valentine's dress, year two

One of the things I love most about having a little girl is that they can get 2 years of wear out of dresses!   Last year I made Hadley this Valentine's dress and this year she wore it as a top.  Woot!

These eyes kill me - so soulful.

I can't decide which I like better, color or black and white.  I'm usually a complete sucker for b&w so that's the way I lean but this one is so sweet in color.

Oh man, that tiny, chubby arm on the window sill.  Love her!

And a little model action with the wind (heat duct) blown hair  ;-)

Happy Hadley.  :-)

february happenings - week two

This week was all about Valentine's Day!  Hadley had her first ever Valentine's party through my MOPS group (or as she calls it, "Had-dee scoo").  Of course, she got all dolled up for the occasion.

Of course, it hasn't been all sunshine and rainbows.  Little miss has decided that eating meals isn't her favorite, so she'll take a couple bites, declare she's "all done" then ask for a snack 15 minutes later.  When I deny her snack request I get this face.  I'm the worst.

Asher was working on this puzzle the other day and it kept coming apart.  He'd add a piece and a couple others would pop off.  It was very, very frustrating.  I encouraged him to slow down, add the pieces gently and keep trying.  He did and was SO proud when he finished it all by himself.  I was super proud too.  :-)

Is it just me or was Asher sporting some serious Rock-a-doodle hair in the tub the other day?  ha!

G'morning world from this big/little girl.

Ain't nobody got time for a runny nose.  I think she's trying to edge me out of my job.  I'm pretty sure if I kept food and water on a low shelf she wouldn't need me at all.

Fancy pants got new sunglasses for Valentine's day!  See also: that dimple.

Along with sunglasses the kids got some new hooded towels from their grandparents.  They're a hit!

On Thursday Asher had his school Valentine's party, so we all celebrated.  Love these two!

Happy Valentine's weekend everyone!

february happenings - week one

Last week I got Asher's Valentine's ready for his class at school.  He initially said he wanted Ninja Turtles to give to his friends so I made these for him.  I love how they turned out!

Naturally once I got the whole gang made he said that he wanted Dragon valentines from Wal-Mart instead, so we did both.  I figured for $2.50 if he wanted Dragon tattoos to give his friends I was ok with that.

This guy has been a major cuddle bug recently.  I'm not sure why but he wants to be with me all the time.  I'm trying not to question it too much since I know soon enough he'll be off doing his own things.

This little spitfire on the other hand, well, I have a hard time keeping track of her.  She's a mile a minute and has no qualms about leaving me in her dust.  ha!

Gussied Up Baby has been busy too!  We have a lot going on here at home, so I've cut way back on the number of orders I'm taking.  I couldn't say no to some special disney shirts for a brother and sister, though!

Last, but not least, Hadley got a pig sandwich cutter in her Christmas stocking and has been enjoying porcine sammies all the time now.  It's the best.  :-)

Happy Thursday!

new year, new dress

I was itching to try a new dress pattern and decided to jump in with the Blue Ribbon from Little Lizard Patterns.  It was a little challenging since it involves making a knit top and I've never done that before, but it worked out well in the end!  I'll be making more of these for sure.  :-)

january happenings: weeks three and four

On Fridays Asher doesn't have school and I really cherish our slow mornings at home together.  These two have been playing together more and more as Hadley gets older.  I love finding them hanging out and becoming friends.

I took both kids to see Paddington and they loved it!  it was Hadley's first movie in the theater and she did great.  I kept the snacks coming and she was happy to sit on my lap.  Asher thought it was SO funny - love seeing him laugh.  :-)

Pom pom hat and sweatshirt weather is my favorite!

It's only a matter of time before she's too embarrassed to be seen with me so I had to declare our BFF status to the world ASAP.  Love her!!

This is my kids and me every. single. day.  They can smell a single chocolate chip from a mile away I tell ya.

Speaking of chocolate…this.  ha!

Full arms, full heart.  She always needs #allthebabies #anddogs #anddaisyduck

Last Friday I took Asher and Hadley to the kids' museum for a morning of fun.  They love it there!  Sure, Asher got the flu the next day, but I'm sure it was worth it.  Um, not really.  But we did have fun!

See how much fun we had - someone did NOT want to leave.  #sadley
