you win some, you lose some

Some days getting a photo of these two kids goes really well and other days, well, on those other days Hadley tries to make a break for it while Asher looks like we just shot his dog.

Or Asher makes his "cheese." face while Hadley flirts with our neighbor.

Or I try to get in on the action because we never did get a decent Mother's Day pic and they both try to squirm away.

Or Asher's alternate personality, "Mr. Four-nager" comes out while Hadley slowly, sneakily starts edging away to make her much desired break for it.

Sometimes I promise them candy...

or recommend a sweet kiss...

And when none of that works we just call it a day.  Note to self: coordinating outfits are money wasted at this house.  There's always next time!

let's hug it out

I've been finding so many cute shops on IG lately.  Often I'm a little hesitant to buy from an unknown shop but when I saw this shirt the other week I decided to take a chance.

How cute is Miss H in her "let's hug it out" tee?  gah!

It was a tad big on her so I fixed the sleeves sorority girl style and she was good to go!

This isn't a sponsored post by any means, but if you want one for your own little then follow @jaxndreams on IG!

the start of summer

Even though summer isn't officially here yet, the temps in our neck of the woods have been up and down (but mostly up!) so we feel like the season is starting!

The other day we had a cool break so the kids and I went to the park.  It was soooo nice.  I love being outside when the weather is nice - who doesn't, right?  The kids don't seem bothered by the scorching summer heat, but once sweat runs down my back I'm outta there and in the A/C baby!  Hadley loves to swing - happy Haddie at her best.  :-)

This is the first year we've tried old school push up ice pops.  Asher has decided he loves snow cones, so I told him this was a snow cone in a tube.  He bought it.

Hadley is still figuring out the mechanics of it all and usually ends up spraying melted juice all over when she shakes her pop in frustration but that's ok.  We have all summer to get it down!

Asher is really into throwing the football right now.  Hadley, not so much.  While Asher and I were playing she found a perch for herself.  I'd kind of like to be on the chair next to her - ha!

Although I'm not sure what she has to complain about, she got the cutest new little sneakers the other day.  I want neon sneaks!

I guess when you're this cool, football just isn't.  :-)

Come this way summer.  We're ready!

the great iPhone catch up {part 2}

Almost caught up!  On to May…

My birthday is the third so it's always fun to start the month with a celebration.  Asher especially loves a birthday (and the cake that comes with it).  I was able to get out for a morning of pampering while Drew took both kids (!) to the store for my gift.  Love that he was willing to do this.  :-)

Happy birthday to me!

Asher had school pictures again (they have spring pics now??  I was so confused…) but we were running late so I only got a car photo while we were waiting for drop off.  When did he become a teenager?

Hadley went to the Y child care for the first time a couple weeks ago.  She did so great - walked in like it was no big deal.  They said she played and had fun the whole time I was working out.  In a lot of ways she is the complete opposite of her big brother - he would NEVER have done that!

We did a little Pinterest project for fun - indoor balloon ping pong!  Cheap, easy and a lot of fun.

Our roses went completely out of control in the best possible way imaginable.  loooove.

We got a major heat wave mid-month and forgot to turn on the attic A/C until the kids and I went upstairs to play.  Yikes!

90+ on 5/13 means we get Rita's as a pre-dinner treat!

I did a few projects in the sewing room - short sets and teacher gifts!

Hadley understands what it takes to be a good mommy.  Multitasking at 18 months - ha!

Luckily her Grammy brought her a stroller so maybe H will have a free hand sometimes now.  I've never seen her play with a toy so much - she loves this little stroller.  So adorable.

Welcome summer - we are excited for the fun you have in store!

the great iPhone catch-up {part 1}

Between Instagram and Facebook I feel like I've been posting a lot of our daily pics, but not recording them here.  Time for a bit of a catch-up post!

Let's swing back a month and take a peek at what our April was spent doing…

Poor Hadley was sick with an awful cold for over a week.  This girl is typically go, go, go, but she spent a LOT of time in this position…

After she had a high fever for a few days I took her to the doctor (again) and she finally had a diagnosable ear infection.  Once she got a few doses of antibiotics in her she was back to being our happy Hadley.  Yay!

Asher filled up his "good choices" sticker chart so we headed off the the jumping place.  Until now Hadley has been happy to sit in the stroller and observe, but at this visit she wanted down to play!  Mommy had a little heart attack when she beelined to follow Asher up the giant slide ladder.  She has no fear and is so anxious to do everything the big kids do.

Big news!  We converted Asher's crib for the final time into his big boy bed!  After all the sickness that had been bringing us down our household needed a happy change to shift the aura.  A new room for A did just that!  :-)

He loves, loves his big bed and has had zero issues adjusting to it.  This boy always surprises me!

Hadley has started sticking her pinky out when she holds her cup and it cracks. me. up.  Every time.

One evening we were really lucky to have Obi-Wan come and play iPad at our house.  Did you know he likes Angry Birds?  It's true.

This little sassafras.  Oh my - she's getting some character (in a big way) but when she's sweet she just so stinkin cute.

Asher finished up his first year of AWANA Cubbies a few weeks ago.  I'm so proud of my boy for memorizing 26 Bible verses this year!

I even had time to make a pair of sister dresses for some sweet girls.  Love how these turned out!

We had a great start to spring!  So much, eternally better than March was.  Woot!!

meeting keaton and grace {mother's day weekend}

So...a month between blog posts.  That's a new low for me.  I'm trying to keep up here but it seems like every time the kids are asleep I head straight for the sewing room so the computer just isn't getting much love these days!  Preserving these memories is important to me, so (once again) I'm going to try harder to keep up a bit!

On Mother's Day weekend we took a big trip north to visit our new niece and nephew.  Did you know we have a brand new one of each?  So exciting!

First stop was to meet baby Keaton!  The trip is about 10 hours in the car and poor Asher, bless his heart, kept saying "oh mommy, we will never find baby Keaton."  haha - he was excited to see his cousin and worried that we all might live in the car forever.  To be honest, I had moments where I was worried about that too.  But we did make it and oh how worth it!

I mean, this sweet face - really.

It was so fun to see my sister as a mommy.  She's been waiting for this little guy a long time!

Hadley wasn't sure who this was at first but before long she knew "baby! baby!".  Our biggest worry was keeping her from poking his eyes out or smothering him with her generous kisses.

We were only able to spend a little over a day with them before we had to head further north to New Jersey to meet our new niece/cousin, Grace!

Luckily Grace is almost 4 months old and a little heartier than 3 week old Keaton, so we weren't as nervous to have her around Hadley.  H was SO excited to see another baby!

Asher meanwhile was an old hat at being the big brother figure and very cool about the whole thing.  ha!

Miracle of all miracles we remember to get a photo of the kids with their grandparents before we left!

I tried (foolishly) to get a picture of Asher and Hadley together and they were NOT in the mood.  Particularly Mr. Four-nager over there.  oh Asher.  ha!

But, naturally, this is the only pic I got of my little monsters on Mother's Day.  Love them!

Hope you all had a lovely Mother's Day.  I'm so happy we got to celebrate with 2 brand new mommies this year!
