Well, I fit into all of my maternity clothes now. :-)
{although, ironically, neither of the things I'm wearing in these photos are maternity...ha!}
This bump is for real people and becoming very much in charge. I'm really not sure where it all came from, but baby girl is moving a ton and using all of her available space in there. This pregnancy is flying by - how am I 27 weeks already? Almost to the 3rd trimester - wow.
When I went to my doctor's appointment on Friday the midwife I saw this time wasn't my favorite. I knew that had to happen eventually since I've been seeing different ladies each visit and no one gets along with everybody {right?}. Don't get me wrong - she was fine technically - we just didn't click. Mostly it was the way she put a few things into words that bugged me. Like when she said that I gained 8 pounds this months and I'd "better keep my eye on that". Well, last time I was here the midwife I saw told me I'd only gained 7 pounds the whole pregnancy and I really needed to eat more snacks and put on some weight.
Make up your minds people.
And please don't ever, ever suggest to a pregnant woman that she's gaining too much weight. First of all, it's basically out of our control. I eat a reasonable amount and try to make good food choices. Beyond that when and how I gain weight isn't up to me. Secondly, is it just me or is weight gain in the back of every pregnant woman's mind anyway?? I know I'm putting on the pounds for an excellent reason, but it's still hard to see the scale inch {or, in my case, jump} up. Let's not add guilt to that scale as well.
Ok, rant over. And fingers crossed she's not on call when baby girl decides to arrive. :-)
As I mentioned yesterday we got a lot of work done in the nursery this weekend. I'm really excited to get started on ladybug's bedding and accessories now!
Baby is the size of a rutabaga this week. She is between 1.5-2.5 pounds and has been practicing her breathing skills. Go lady baby, go!
How far along: 27 weeks
Net weight gain/loss: 15 pounds
Maternity clothes: the bump is big and getting bigger, so I wear a lot of maternity Ts and gaucho pants - super comfy!
Stretch marks: none yet
Belly button: either flat or out - depends on the day and time and who's pushing out from the inside
Sleep: it's been pretty good, except that whenever I {accidentally} roll off my left side I wake up because my arms fall asleep. This baby presses on some major nerves if I lay on my back or right side!
Baby movement: yes - lots and strong!
Gender: it's a GIRL!
Food cravings: anything cold and crunchy; sweets
Food aversions: pizza hasn't tasted good this week at all
What I miss: nothing this week. It hit me how fast it's all going and I want to enjoy every minute of expecting her!
Looking forward to: taking the next steps in her nursery
Best moment this week: getting her nursery painted and the crib assembled
Milestones: baby is viable!

Wow... it feels like your pregnancy has gone by SO fast! Glad you're doing well (and I think your weight gain sounds perfectly good and normal).
ReplyDeleteIsn't it crazy how fast everything seems to go the 2nd time around? You look fabulous!!! And I love the house updates, curtains are precious!!!!!!!!! And the blog looks great! I think I need to update mine soon!
ReplyDeleteAwwwwww BABY FEVER hits AGAIN. :) You are lookin' great!!!! Can't wait to see what you guys came up with for the nursery!!!! I know it'll be adorable!!!! Sorry to hear the midwife wasn't so great this time around. Some people just don't click, so true!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt also shocks me when women whose sole purpose in the workplace is to deal with pregnant women are so bad at it! Sorry about that!
ReplyDeleteYou look great, and your weight seems natural. Dont' worry about it!
Can't wait to hear her name!
I have dreaded stepping on the scale this time around since I've been on "bed rest" for the last six weeks. I am trying to watch what I eat but it definitely seems like baby boy is bulking up now matter what!!! I think I'm already over +20 but we'll find out for sure at my next appt. With my first son I worked out almost every day and still gained 36lbs so, oh well. I think you look great and at least we know that gaining weight is for a great reason!
ReplyDeleteYou look so fab! Definitely rockin' the bump! Your weight gain is just fine. I didn't gain a lot in the beginning and then had a few huge months of weight gain. My doc said that was just my body's way of making up for my lack of weight gain earlier on. Hopefully, that midwife won't be on call when the big day comes. Oh, and I got all of H's bows off of easy, but the lady closed her shop until September. I love felt flower headbands for newborns because they are cheap and dainty. I would just google that on easy and see what you can find. Heck, you could probably even make them as crafty as you are.
