{phone dump sunday}

This has been such a busy weekend for us. Drew's parents stopped by on their way home from Florida and we spent our 1 day, 4 hours together running running to do projects. While my MIL and I were out that whole time looking for nursery furniture {still not done...sigh} the guys painted the kids' bathroom, put up a shelf, and built some custom drawer dividers for my kitchen. Yay! Being that busy means no photos, but I do have some from last week!

It all started a week ago. Drew, Asher and I tried a new church and stopped for lunch at a diner we spied. Of course, I had to try a milkshake. YUM.

After lunch we went to leave and our car wouldn't start. Argh. It ended up getting towed while my Dad came to rescue us. I have to give major props to the diner where we got stuck. It was SO hot outside - they insisted we take up valuable bar stools and gave us free drinks while we waited for the tow truck. If you're ever in Cary, go to Gypsy's!

Drew had to travel for work this week. We really missed him - especially since I'm hopeless at designing train tracks and there was almost a major catastrophe. After I worked on it for awhile Asher interrupted and said, "it ok, mommy. Daddy fix.". Ha ha. He knows already!

After our trip to Florida we realized just how much Asher loves his blanket...and what a disaster it would be if "breet" ever got lost. I checked at the Carter's outlet while there, but they don't have them anymore. I mean, it was bought 2 years ago, so who's surprised? Luckily for me, Amazon has {literally} everything, so they came through and delivered 2 backup breets to our house this week. Phew - I feel a lot better.

It's been super hot this week, but we can't stay in all the time. Fun {quick} trip to the park on Wednesday.

Asher also went to the dentist on Wednesday. This was his second visit and he did awesome. Much, much better than I was expecting. He even let the hygienist brush his teeth really well. I was prepared to hold down a screaming toddler, but it wasn't necessary. Go Asher! As a special post-dentist treat we went searching for our local library. Look what book we found - perfect! :-)

Since we now have a book about baby sisters it seemed like a good time to start big brother training officially. Ash didn't have any dolls but now was the time to get one. He l-o-v-e-s his baby. This baby gets a lot of milk and hugs/tackles. We're working on being gentle. :-)

On Friday my mother in law and I hit the road in search of some nursery furniture. It took a lot longer and was much harder than either of us anticipated. I knew the crib I wanted and I love it! Want a sneak peak? Ok!

The thing that made this such a huge ordeal is that this crib isn't part of a collection, so there's no dresser or other pieces that match it. I have no problem with mixing from different sources {that's what I did in Asher's nursery} but it turns out that white isn't simply white. We can't find anything that is bright white enough to go nicely with the crib. Any suggestions?? I haven't given up yet - it will be great eventually. Ha!

The one piece we were able to find, besides the crib, was a glider. I really wanted an upholstered chair for ladybug and I love the little beauty we decided on. Of course, the fabric is back ordered until August so I'm crossing my {very nervous} fingers that it will arrive before she does.

Lots happening around here! Hope you all are having a great weekend too!

  1. Sounds like a busy week. Oh and I will make you feel a little better about not having nursery furniture yet....Mazie still has no space of her own and she's 7 months old!!! YIKES! I just switched Ethan to his toddler bed and they will be sharing a room so we are just now beginning to get her side of the room situated. Painting this week hopefully. Lol. Talk about procrastination. I guess since they are going to share a room I have been hesitant to up root Ethan's baby room as it was :( I now have to make each side of the room suit both kiddos. Should be fun. :) That chair looks comfy and I hope the fabric comes in soon! Also...I saw that you found a dresser do you think you can match the crib with paint? If you can, maybe you can find the other pieces you are looking for too and paint those too? I guess it depends on what other pieces you are looking for.

  2. Wow - it sounds like time with the in-laws is very productive! I love the glider, and the fabric. Can't wait to see the finished product!

  3. Have you considered a white crib with colored furniture to coordinate with bedding or decorations? Or how about going with a darker wood stain? Our master bedroom has an off white iron bed but mahogany dressers and mirror. It looks great and the contrast makes the room coordinate without being too matchy!

  4. I can't wait to see all the furniture (and oh what a choice I KNOW!) Love Ash with his new practice sister :) It was such a help with Parker I know, and he'll be great with his little sis, it just takes a little time to get used to sharing attention. And seriously, what did people do without Amazon . . .it is my mommy bff!
