a forgotten post

I logged in to write a quick blog post this morning and I noticed that I had a few drafts saved (??).  I clicked to see what they are and found this gem I wrote over two years ago and never published for some reason.  Asher is about 18 months here and his tiny self is making me all nostalgic and a little teary.  How do they change so fast?  Why do they get bigger?  I love Asher today, but I kind of miss this little guy too.  I'm off to give him and Hadley hugs before they grow up any more on me.  Happy Thursday, friends.  :-)

****************

Sometimes you just need a break from it all.

Yesterday, I caught Asher hanging out on his bean bag chair, reading some books.  There was something so sweet about him sitting quietly and flipping through his books that I almost teared up.  This sappy mama is ridiculous!  ha!

little loves.

Drew's parents were here to visit over Labor Day weekend and we remembered (miracle of all miracles) to take some pictures!

Her hand on his leg.  The sweetness, ahhh, I can't take it.  :-)

miss mess

This is my new nickname for Hadley.  Girlfriend is everywhere and in everything.

I have baby gates up, but just resting (not screwed into the walls) and she's knocked them down twice.  They are almost more dangerous up then not here at all.

As soon as she sees an opening in the force field the mad dash is on.  Haddie is getting darn fast at her army crawl.  I suspect she's got wheels hidden in her onesies somewhere.

Sister is also crazy at moving around in the bathtub.  If she sees a toy she's after it with no hesitation and no fear.  Asher doesn't appreciate it at all - ha!  I have a feeling she's going to be aces at swim lessons someday!

She is so different than Asher was as a baby - I have a feeling sister is going to give me a run for my money!

hot on the trail

This weekend we took Asher and Hadley (and my parents, ha!) to the Life and Science Museum in Durham to see their Dinosaur Trail.  Asher loved it!

I thought the museum was mostly just the dinos but it was so much more.  We spent the whole afternoon and Asher could have happily stayed longer.  Although we were super excited to see some dinosaurs, our first stop was the farm.

Ash loved seeing "llama llama red pajama" and this giant pig (who decided fall is most definitely here and was enjoying a pumpkin).

Next we headed to the dino trail!  Asher got to climb on this big guy (the other dinos were just for looking) but he was a little nervous.  Luckily Daddy was close by to help him out.

When we saw this mommy and baby dinosaur duo Asher said "Mommy look!  It's Asher Dinosaur and Mommy Dinosaur!"  Yep - that's us.  haha - love, love him.

The other dinos were so neat too.

Such a fun day!  Hadley was there too but she preferred to stay in the stroller.  :-)  She skipped her nap but did SO well and was in a great mood the whole time.  Happy Hadley!

-------------------

I have so much blog catching up to do - ahhhh.  It's been so busy.  Where do the hours go in the day??  Hope you all are doing well.  Please know that I read as much as I can of your blogs even if I don't comment.  Sorry friends!

good morning lovely

I love how happy Hadley is when she wakes up.  I come in to get her from a nap and it's like she's never seen anything more wonderful than my face before.  Well rested babies are the best!

Peek!

Hi Haddie.

You know what she loves even more than seeing me?  Seeing Asher.

Especially when he's offering her a pacifier.

Whoa.  Blow her mind with awesomeness.

This lady loves her some paci.

Love our happy Hadley.

Happy weekend, friends.  :-)

catching up before the weekend

I keep saying that I want to blog more each week to keep up with what we've been doing and then 3 or 4 days pass by and I haven't blogged a thing.  Oh well - that's the season I'm in!

On Saturday evening we went out to dinner and Hadley kept laying back in the highchair to stare at the people sitting behind us.  She's cute but it got a little awkward.  For them.  ha!

Sunday afternoon Asher went to a birthday party for a neighborhood friend.  He turned 3 and had a pirate party (his name might be Jake - ha!).  Asher had a blast!!  There was this inflatable water slide that all the kids thought was awesome.  Let's just say, the birthday party bar has been raised.

Ash is so funny and loved taking breaks from playing to sit in this little lawn chair and enjoy some snacks.  The boy know how to party for sure.

Can you see the cake?  It was ah-mazing!  They cut straight down through it to serve so Asher got a SLAB of cake.  And ate every bite.  yikes.

Hadley came over for a few minutes with Drew, but it was really hot so they headed home before things wrapped up.  Asher was sweet and shared his goodie bag with her.

She thinks she's tough stuff now, what with her tat and all.

Monday morning Asher headed to his 1st day of Preschool 3s!

He had a wonderful morning and by pickup today he said that he can't wait to go back next week.  Win!

While A was at school on Monday Hadley helped me get some things at BJs.  Sister might have wanted a snack while we were shopping.

New neighbors moved in this week so we baked them some cookies.  Asher wanted to keep all the cookies so it was a good opportunity for us to practice being generous.  :-)

Meanwhile we were all caught in a state of shock when Hadley turned 10 months old.  How did that happen??

I'm keeping Asher little for as long as possible.  Adorable boy!

(but naps are getting the ax around here because brother bear is an actual BEAR when I wake him up.  grrrr.  no thanks.)

Happy Friday, friends!  We have visitors coming for the long weekend are so excited!
