back in the saddle

Is it just me or did this summer go crazy fast?  Already, it's back to school day!

Asher is actually going to a new preschool this year, so even though he went to school last year this feels like a brand new experience for us.  We loved his old school but for a bunch of reasons decided this new place will be best for him right now.

He is really excited to meet his new teachers, Ms. Mary and Ms. Dawn.  I know he's also going to make a lot of new friends and learn, learn, learn.

I can't believe it's been a whole year since I sent this tiny guy off to his first ever time away from me.  waaahhhh.  The years really do fly by.

Oh my goodness, seeing this picture right next to the ones from today make me seriously sad.  Asher is getting so big - where did my baby go?

(he's up there mommy)

Last year Hadley wasn't here to participate in the first day of school festivities, but today she is!  Miss H isn't going anywhere too far from me, but she needed a little back to school outfit too.

Asher didn't even mind sitting with her to get their photos taken - I think he'll miss her this morning.

or maybe not.  ha!

I love this boy so much.  I've said it before, but this is my blog so I can say it again - I can't believe he's already in Pre-K 3s.  Such a big boy in my house these days!

Daddy and I love you Asher and are so, so proud of the big kid you're becoming!

Our prayer for Asher today and every day.

Here's to a wonderful school year for all the kiddos (and their parents) starting back!  A special shout out to my sister who's a teacher and my nephew Owen who's starting 4th grade (!!) today. Love you both!

{to those who are wondering - I did make both kids' outfits.  This was my 2nd time making shorts and they are so easy!  The material is from here and I'm in love with it.  Who can resist a little boy in madras?  The appliqués for both kids are from here.  Now that I've gotten a taste of how adorable coordinating A and H can be I may never go back!  ha!}

the last week of summer

Asher starts back at preschool on Monday, so we've been soaking in the last week of summer here!  I went to the Parents' Orientation last night and can't believe he'll be going back to school in just a few days.  Ahhhh!

This week we took a trip to the children's museum since it was raining and our pool plans got the ax.  Asher l-o-v-e-s it there!

Hadley skipped her nap to come along but was excellent anyway.  Color me surprised.  The only problem is that she wants to get down and play now too but I'm not about to let my baby get trampled by the big kids.  There is a baby play area so we went in there for a few minutes to let her have some fun.  Asher wasn't technically supposed to come inside the baby area, but I couldn't leave him alone somewhere else so we broke the rules.  One of several times a day I wish I had a clone - ha!

On Tuesday Drew and I rearranged the living room and set up some gates to give H a safe (and contained) place to play.  This little miss is ON THE MOVE and getting into everything - including cabinets and outlets - so she and I needed her in one place.  She's checking the perimeter for weaknesses and will report back.

We went to play with some friends and when I glanced in the back Hadley was holding on for dear life.  Bless her - mama is a crazy driver I guess!

Asher was "helping" me get ready the other day and decided to try on these heels.  When I asked what he was doing he said this...

haha - boys!

I made my first ever shorts and shirt set for Asher!  I have a plan for his back to school outfit (yikes, that's on Monday gotta get going on it) but didn't want to make my first pair of shorts out of "nice" fabric so I did a trial pair on this inexpensive gingham.  Still super cute and they were SO easy.

While my machine was humming I made a football shirt for Asher's friend Jake who's birthday party is on Sunday.  I love giving a special shirt for the birthday mom kid and also a toy, since, despite the cuteness kids could often care less.  ha!

Poor Hadley picked up a cold on all of our adventures (I can't wait until she stops putting every blessed thing in her mouth - this is germ city) and has been so miserable the past 2 nights.  Wait, that's makes two of us.  We sent this picture to Daddy at 11:30 Wednesday night.

Daddy comes home tonight and we're excited to have the weekend with him!  Hadley is wearing her celebratory best - cha cha cha!

Happy Friday, friends!

sunday at home

Yesterday we spent a quiet day at home.  After church I got a few pictures of Hadley in her little dress. She hates it because it slows down her crawl but I like for that very reason.  :-)

Asher saw me clicking away and smelled an opportunity for a lollipop.

Um, excuse me brother, please don't sit on me.

Oh, well, ok.  I like being close to you.

(crazy boy took off his shirt and decided life was better without one)

Once I made it clear he wasn't getting candy Asher hightailed it off to do something more fun.  Hadley wished he'd come back.

I set her on the floor to go after him.  And she did!  ha!

After naps we all headed outside for a little baseball.  Asher loves baseball these days!

H wanted to watch but Drew was afraid she'd crawl into the game (this girl is moving everywhere these days, ahhh!) so we put a baby gate around her.

Bless her, she didn't seem to mind but wasn't quite sure what to think.

I got inside too to make it more fun.  Then Asher came.  And Drew.  Before long the ball game had been abandoned and we were all sitting in a 5'x3' rectangle.  Then the mosquitos joined us and we went inside to escape...after hitting a few more balls, of course.

A fun summer's afternoon for all!

phone dump friday

Friday again?  Already?  Asher was at half-day summer camp this week, so we're all excited for some family time this weekend!

Last weekend we took a family outing to Red Robin.  Man, that place has changed and not in good ways.  Has anyone else been recently and noticed?  Higher prices, smaller portions, no more balloons...I'm not sure if we'll be back.  But we did have fun going out as a foursome.  :-)

Hadley rolled under the couch and got frustrated that she couldn't get back out so she started beating the couch in protest.  I was waiting for her to take flight.  (bonus photobomb by Elmo - ha!)

Asher still loves to snuggle and asks to sit on my lap for morning cartoon time.  I l-o-v-e my snuggle bug and will indulge him as long as my lap allows!

Is it weird that I use the bottle drying rack to air dry my wine glass?  Worked great!

Bless her, the teeth they are a-comin' and sister had a 2 hand thumb suck sort of end to her day.

Even better?  The pacifier!  This week she rediscovered the paci that's been in her crib forever and hasn't put it down since.

See.  They are seriously long lost friends.

This might become a problem.  Eeek.

Sweet Haddie-boo.  Love her!
Asher loves to push the little cart in the grocery store!  He does a great job of staying near me and not running into other people, so I allow it.  :-)  We went shopping today and after I grabbed some ketchup I looked down for him and he wasn't there.  Glancing back I saw him stopped and filling his cart.  When I asked what he was doing I was told this...

Brother loves him some baked beans.  haha!!  Love this silly guy.

The girl has become a real firecracker this week.  She is doing an army crawl that gets her everywhere she wants to go.  This morning I went upstairs to get Asher and when I came down Hadley had opened the cabinet door and pulled this bin out.

Trouble with a capital T, I tell ya.

I know!  I'll put her in a cute dress - that will slow down her crawl.  ;-)

Happy Friday, friends!

ww :: brother sister outtakes

Well every picture they take can't be suitable for framing, right?

On the plus side:  no one fell down the stone steps (eek - I was afraid) and her bow was left in.  Win.
